We’ve tried a lot of skin tightening treatments, and wanted to talk about all the hype around Tixel.

It’s become wildly popular and in high demand, but why? There are already so many devices on the market to treat wrinkles and laxity. Why is Tixel unique or any different?

Before Raw Rituale decides to buy a device, it has to be SUPER special to justify what these manufacturers sell them for. They also have to offer some new way of affecting the skin outside of what we already have to offer and provide a safe, effective, and all-inclusive result for our clients. Raw Rituale is always looking for ways to treat ANY skin condition, so no matter what your goal is, we’ll have a solution on hand but we had to ask ourselves a series of questions before pulling the trigger on Tixel.

Does Tixel provide the results our clients are looking for? Does Tixel work better than anything we have tried or already have in our collection?

To us, the actual technology needs to be unique to justify bringing it to clinic. It’s interesting being on the inside of the industry and privy to how much marketing hype goes into the ‘latest and greatest’ treatment on the market and how these manufacturers spin it. If consumers really understood the mechanics behind a lot of these lasers or treatments, they would see it’s all the same technology, just packaged and marketed differently. As a quick example, one company recently came out with a ‘revolutionary’ new CO2 with minimal downtime. If you know anything about CO2, minimal downtime is not typically associated with this treatment. You can typically plan on looking like chopped meat for the week. Long story short, this amazing new device was technically just your standard CO2 technology turned down. It’s not an actual new way to affect the skin, it’s just the same thing, turned down and marketed as the latest must-have. You have to read through all the hype and get to the actual science behind the device. With Tixel, we did significant research into HOW it worked and the science behind it.

This leads us to, does Tixel work?

We always look at actual 3rd party clinical studies before bringing on a new device. We don’t believe what the manufacturer tells us. We like actual results and something that has a proven track record of success. Tixel came from Australia and throughout Europe, so it’s been proven in both the results it offers and long-term effects on the skin.

Finally, we look at if it is safe and if can we justify the cost. Tixel is one of the safest non-ablative treatments we have ever had the pleasure of operating. It offers high results with low risk unlike its Fraxel and CO2 counterparts. So that was an easy win!

So how does Tixel measure up?

To pay the device off we have to consider how it is priced in the market and if that price is worth it. The owner of Raw Rituale has had just about every treatment done to some part of her face or body and was immediately impressed with her first Tixel. After just one treatment, her upper eyelids were so much tighter than a week post-Tixel, and her eyeliner went over much fewer wrinkles. She felt overall tighter, brighter, and more lifted. She also got on a plane immediately after the treatment and went out to a show 6 days post-treatment. We all want results that also don’t disrupt our social lives. She used this as a baseline and compared it to other treatments that cost much more and felt it was 100% worth what the market is asking.

Tixel provided results very similar to more aggressive treatments, like RF microneedling or CO2, but was WAY more comfortable and had WAY less downtime. Not to mention we are able to treat within millimeters of the lash line. Since it is not laser or light-based, we can tighten under-eye hollowing and hooded eyes with Tixel, which is very unique and a concern a lot of our clients have. Many have opted to start with Tixel before jumping into under-eye filler and all have been so happy with their results - they are avoiding filler. Raw Rituale also loves the results Tixel provides on the neck to address crepey skin and tech necklines.

How is TIXEL different?

Tixel is pretty revolutionary in how it delivers controlled trauma to the skin. It works by heating a titanium tip to deliver controlled heat to the skin without burning the surface. Tixel sits between the results of a non-ablative (works by heating up the underlying skin tissue without harming the surface so that your body will produce new collagen) and an ablative laser (removes the top layer of skin). Since the plate is so hot, it’s both sterile and low downtime.

This thermal energy does two things – it stimulates collagen for skin tightening and created micro-channels in the skin for enhanced absorption of topicals. Raw Rituale always suggests adding the BENEV exosomes on top for additional collagen, elastin, and brightening and to cut healing down by half.

How does Tixel work?

The handpiece is a small 1cm square titanium plate with a matrix of 84 tiny pyramids that deliver heat in a stamping pattern. Brief millisecond pulses treat the skin in a fractional mode meaning small zones are treated surrounded by normal skin which minimizes skin reaction. The settings on the Tixel are adjustable in the depth of penetration into the skin and the duration of the tip in the skin. This allows us to tailor treatments to the skin condition being treated, the skin type of the patient, and the downtime that is acceptable.

Tixel can improve fine lines, wrinkles, and skin texture as well as reduce pore size. Acne scars can be treated, and it is a great option for general rejuvenation not only on the face but also neck, chest, and backs of hands. Tixel can also be used in the enhanced delivery of topical products through the skin to improve results in treating skin conditions such as Melasma. Raw Rituale carries a medical-grade tranexamic acid for offering additional brightening effects post-Tixel. Tixel has also been shown to affect dry eyes. Many ophthalmologists are carrying it just for these benefits which is another fun bonus you get with this treatment.

All in all, Raw Rituale is so happy to offer Tixel. We’ve been so excited with the results we’ve seen from it and love how happy our clients are with it as well. We always suggest a series of three to start with - you can space these 4-6 weeks apart. A series can be done annually or as needed. Results with Tixel can last years though so it’s well worth the price tag!
